Hi Amin! Let's practice talking about Lebanon, work, travel, and how life changes over time.

Your progress0 of 5 activities completed

About 20–25 minutes · Work at your own pace · Your answers stay on this device.

Activity 1Grammar · Past vs. present

Life in Lebanon: then and now

Use the correct form of the verb. Look at the time expression: five years ago or today.

Remember: Five years ago → past (paid, ate, was). Today / now → present (pay, eat, is).
Extra speaking practice

Say two sentences out loud: What did you pay for food five years ago? What do you pay now?

Activity 2Grammar · Who

People who...

Combine each pair into one sentence using who.

❌ People who they live in Beirut...
✅ People who live in Beirut...
Don't repeat “they,” “he,” or “she” when who is already the subject.

Your wording might be different from the sample. That's okay if the grammar is correct.

Activity 3Grammar · Comparisons

More, less, and too

Choose the word that completes each sentence.

More expensive than · less time · too low (not enough)
Activity 4Vocabulary

Review these useful words from our conversation, then complete the short vocabulary exercise.

Activity 5Speaking challenge

Your opinion: How does life change?

Choose one topic and record a short voice note (about 60–90 seconds) on your phone.

Topic A — Lebanon

What was life like in Lebanon several years ago? What is different today?

Topic B — Wealth and poverty

Why do some people struggle with high prices? What could help them?

Topic C — Travel

Compare life in two countries you know. What is better, cheaper, or more difficult?

Try to use:
  • 2 past-tense verbs (was, paid, visited, etc.)
  • 1 sentence with who
  • 1 comparison (more ... than, less, cheaper, etc.)
  • 2 new vocabulary words

Record in WhatsApp or your usual voice recorder. Nothing is recorded by this page.

Excellent work, Amin! 🎉
